Emergency Plumber in Markham, 24 Hours a Day
If water is coming through a ceiling, a floor drain is backing up or a pipe has burst, call (437) 525-2696 now: an emergency plumber answers in Markham 24 hours a day. We tell you what to shut off while the van is on its way from Markham Rd and Kirkham Dr, quote the emergency rate on the phone, and reach most Markham addresses within CONFIRM: e.g. 60 minutes (only publish a number the crew can hit at 3 a.m. in February).
Open 24 hours, 7 days a week
The short version: call (437) 525-2696. A person answers at 2 p.m. and at 2 a.m. After-hours visits cost CONFIRM: e.g. $249 after-hours call-out (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays) to come out, quoted before we leave, and the repair price is in writing before work starts. If it can safely wait until morning, we will say so and save you the after-hours rate.
placeholder imageWhat counts as a plumbing emergency
Call now, any hour, if water is spraying or pouring, if a ceiling is bulging or dripping, if sewage is coming up through a floor drain or toilet, if a hot water tank is leaking from the bottom, or if you have no water at all. Every hour of water in a wall or under a floor makes the repair and the dry-out bigger.
It can usually wait until morning if a drip is caught by a bucket, a single fixture is slow, or a toilet runs. Calling us is still fine. We will tell you what can wait, and waiting saves you the after-hours rate.
| Situation | What is included | Typical range |

| Main drain backup | Clear the line through the cleanout | $325 to $650 |

Daytime ranges shown; after-hours visits add the call-out above. Prices before HST. Last checked: CONFIRM: month and year the prices were last checked, e.g. October 2026.
Markham's plumbing emergencies, by season
January and February: frozen and burst pipes. Markham's January normal is minus 6 C, and the cold snaps go far lower. Pipes in exterior walls, above garages and to outdoor taps freeze, split, and then flood when they thaw, often while everyone is at work. The City's advice holds: shut off and drain outdoor taps from inside before winter, and never thaw a pipe with an open flame. If one has already split, see our burst pipe and leak repair page.
Spring and summer storms: backups through the floor drain. Heavy rain overloads older sewers, and Markham has the history to prove it: the August 19, 2005 storm flooded basements across West Thornhill, and July 2017 storms flooded parts of Markham Village and Unionville. A sewage backup is a health hazard first: keep children and pets out of it and stop using water. After it is cleared, a backwater valve is how you stop the next one.
Any day: the hot water tank. Tanks rarely give a warning. A slow drip at the base becomes a flood the day the tank wall gives out. If yours is leaking, close the cold valve on top and call; we usually replace same or next day. See water heater replacement.
What happens when you call
You describe what you see. We tell you which valve to close and what to leave alone. If it needs a visit, we give you the call-out price and a time, and a licensed plumber leaves Markham Road. On site, we stop the water, find the cause, and give you the repair price in writing before we start. When it is fixed, we test it and send you photos for your insurer.
In the next ten minutes
- Close the main shut-off, usually in the basement next to the water meter on the front wall.
- Leaking tank: close the cold supply valve on top. Gas tank: gas control to Off. Electric: breaker off.
- Leaking toilet or sink: close the small valve on the supply line under it.
- Sewage at a floor drain: stop all water use in the house, including the washer and dishwasher.
- Kill power to wet areas only if the panel is dry and reachable.
- Photograph everything before you move it.
Common questions
Do you charge more at night?
Yes. After-hours visits carry a call-out of CONFIRM: e.g. $249 after-hours call-out (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays), and we tell you that on the phone before anyone drives over. The repair itself is priced in writing before we start, at any hour.
How fast can you get to me?
Within CONFIRM: e.g. 60 minutes (only publish a number the crew can hit at 3 a.m. in February) for emergencies anywhere in Markham. Our shop is at Markham Rd and Kirkham Dr, about 3 km from Markham Village and 5 km from Unionville. Stouffville takes longer; we give you an honest time on the phone.
The water is coming from the street side. Is that you or the City?
The City of Markham maintains the water service up to the curb stop at your property line; the pipe from there into the house is yours. If water is pooling near the curb or the leak is before your meter, call the City of Markham's after-hours waterworks line as well as us.
Several houses on my street are backing up. Should I still call?
Call the City of Markham too, because a street-wide backup can point to the municipal sewer. Then call us: we can clear your line, stop water use from making it worse, and talk to you about a backwater valve so the next storm stays out.
Do you work on holidays?
Yes. Christmas, New Year's and long weekends are covered at the after-hours rate.
Can you dry out my basement too?
We stop the water and fix the plumbing. Drying and restoration is a separate trade; if you need it, we will give you the number of a restoration company we trust, and our photos and notes go to your insurer either way.
